the background

The period between 1865 and 1938, bracketed by the Morant
Bay 'Rebellion' and the 1938 Riots, is of great importance in
Jamaica's development. Unfortunately it has not received the
attention it deserves, and 2-3 generations of Jamaicans have
been relatively neglected. I have been researching this
forgotten time for over 3 decades and I have tried to find out
as much as I can about Jamaicans of this period, which is in
one sense the period of 'Crown Colony' administration.
This site deals with one particular family from that period. I
have been gathering information on this interesting family for
over twenty years; now I am trying to get that information
onto the Internet. I hope you will find the Minott family of
Allman Town as interesting as I have.

I have to note the interesting new information I have been able to find, especially about Adena Minott, in online newspaper archives, specifically of the New York Age at fultonhistory.com, and The Broad Ax of Chicago at genealogybank.com.

I have tried to be as factually accurate as possible
on these pages, but there are certainly errors which
need to be corrected. I shall be grateful for information
on any such needed corrections.
My opinions are another matter, but I have tried to
keep them to a minimum any way!
